Quickstart
Sign up, finish your profile, connect Stripe, send your first invoice, and take your first payment with test cards.
Quickstart
From a blank page to paid in about fifteen minutes. Biz Invoice Pay ships with a mock mode that behaves like Stripe but touches no real money — perfect for learning the flow.
1. Create your account
- Go to Start free and create your seller account with an email and password.
- You'll land in the dashboard with a setup checklist.
2. Finish your business profile
In Settings → Business profile, fill in:
- Business name and phone number
- Business address (shown on invoices)
- Invoice prefix (default
INV-) and numbering - Timezone (used for due dates and reminders)
- Default tax rate and payment terms
These details appear on every invoice and PDF, so get them right once.
3. Connect your bank (Stripe onboarding)
In Settings → Payouts, click Connect with Stripe. In mock mode you'll see a mock onboarding screen (clearly labeled; no real data is collected). Choose Complete to finish instantly. In live mode, Stripe walks you through identity and bank verification — see Connect your bank for what it asks and what each status means.
Until onboarding reaches enabled, you can explore everything, but charging is disabled. You can still create invoices and draft payment sessions.
4. Send your first invoice
- Go to Invoices → New invoice.
- Add a customer (name + email is enough).
- Add line items: description, quantity, unit price, and whether each line is taxable.
- Set a due date, review the totals, and click Send.
Your customer gets an email with a link to the hosted pay page. The invoice status moves from draft to open. When they pay, it becomes paid.
5. Take your first payment
Open the Charge screen (or the hosted pay page link) and enter a card amount. In mock mode, use these test cards — any future expiry date and any CVC:
| Card number | Result |
|---|---|
| 4242 4242 4242 4242 | Success |
| 4000 0000 0000 0002 | Declined (card_declined) |
| 4000 0000 0000 9995 | Insufficient funds |
| 4000 0000 0000 0259 | Succeeds, then creates a dispute |
A $50.00 payment with the success card shows the fee breakdown on the payment record: $2.75 fee, you receive $47.25 (4.9% + 30¢).
What to do next
- Read Invoices for tax and discount math, reminders, and recurring invoices.
- Read API reference to take payments from your own website.
- Set up Webhooks to get notified when payments land.
