Payouts
How payout timing works, payout statuses, what causes failed payouts and how to fix them, and the Stripe Express dashboard.
Payouts
Payouts move your available balance to the bank account you connected during Stripe onboarding. Biz Invoice Pay never touches the money in transit — Stripe sends it directly to your bank.
Schedule factors
Payout timing is set by Stripe and your account's status — not by Biz Invoice Pay, and we can't speed it up.
In practice, these factors decide when money arrives:
- Account age and history. New accounts typically see their first payout a week or more after the first charge, while Stripe builds a risk picture. Established accounts usually get faster schedules.
- Pending holds. Each payment spends a short hold period (your
payoutDelayDayssetting) before it becomes available for payout. - Minimums and banking. US bank transfers need at least a few dollars to send, and banks add 1–2 business days after Stripe releases the transfer.
- Weekends and holidays. Banks don't settle on weekends or US federal holidays, so Friday payouts arrive later than Tuesday ones.
- Risk reviews. If Stripe flags unusual activity, payouts can pause while it asks for information. Responding quickly in the requirements list gets them moving again.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
pending | Queued — waiting for the next payout run. |
in_transit | Sent to your bank; arrival date is shown. |
paid | Confirmed in your bank account. |
failed | The bank rejected it. See causes below. |
The dashboard shows each payout's expected arrival date.
Failed payouts: causes and fixes
| Cause | Fix |
|---|---|
| Closed or frozen bank account | Update your bank details in the Stripe Express dashboard. |
| Wrong routing or account number | Correct them in Stripe Express; the payout retries. |
| Account can't accept ACH transfers | Use a checking account that accepts ACH credits. |
| Name mismatch | The bank account name should match your Stripe account holder name. |
Payout failures caused by wrong bank details are the account owner's to fix. Update the details in Stripe Express — Biz Invoice Pay staff can't edit or redirect payouts on your behalf.
Stripe Express dashboard
Once onboarding is complete, open the Stripe Express dashboard from Settings → Payouts to:
- See payout history and upcoming payouts
- Update your bank account
- View tax documents (1099-K) at year end
Payouts always go to the bank account on file in Stripe — Biz Invoice Pay cannot redirect them, and nobody at Biz Invoice Pay can see the full account number (only the last four digits are shown in your dashboard).
