Payment links, QR codes, and Charge at the counter
Take payments without invoices — payment links, scannable QR codes, and the in-person Charge screen.
Payment links, QR codes, and Charge at the counter
Not every sale needs an invoice. For walk-ins, phone orders, deposits, or tips, use payment links and the Charge screen.
Payment links
A payment link is a hosted pay page for a fixed amount and description — no invoice, no customer record required.
- Go to Payments → New payment link (or use the API:
POST /api/v1/payment-sessions). - Enter the amount, a description, and optionally the customer's email.
- Share the link by text, email, or chat. It expires automatically; the expiry time is shown on the session.
Use payment links for: deposits ("$100 to book your tattoo session"), balance-due payments, tips and gratuities, or selling a fixed-price item outside the invoice flow.
QR codes
Every payment link and payment session has a scannable QR code. Open the session, click Show QR, and let the customer scan it with their phone camera — they're taken straight to the pay page. Print the QR on a table tent, tape it to the register, or put it on a receipt for tips.
Charge at the counter
The Charge screen is a keypad for in-person card entry:
- Tap in the amount (or add line items for a receipt-style charge).
- Enter the card details on the secure pay form — you never see the full number after submission.
- Show the confirmation and offer a receipt by email.
Staff members can use Charge without seeing payouts or reports (see Team and roles).
Treat card entry like cash handling: never write down full card numbers, never photograph cards, and lock the screen when you step away. Biz Invoice Pay stores no card data on your devices.
Tracking these payments
Payments from links, QR codes, and Charge all appear in Payments with their source labeled (charge or api). The fee is the same 4.9% + 30¢ per successful card payment, and each payment shows its fee and net amount.
